Spider-Man, uno de los superhéroes más populares y una de las banderas culturales de Estados Unidos que ha logrado penetrar en casi todos los hogares del mundo (en definitiva, ¿quién no conoce al Hombre Araña?), es motivo de una sorprendente Exhibición en Chicago, en el Griffin Museum of Science+Industry.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing – The Exhibition” es el nombre de la exposición inmersiva que está presentando el Griffin Museum Of Science+Industry, uno de los museos más cautivantes de Estados Unidos, con propuestas interactivas dedicadas a la historia (por ejemplo el origen de la bicicleta y del automóvil), además sobre el medio ambiente y la ciencia en general.

La exhibición del Hombre Araña, que estará abierta hasta el 26 de febrero de 2026, está causando furor y se convirtió en una de las más visitadas de Estados Unidos. Inclusive, muchos fanáticos realizan la visita vestidos como Spider-Man.

Cómics, infografías, trajes y estatuas

Cómics raros, entre ellos el ejemplar donde el personaje enmascarado hace su primera aparición (“Amazing Fantasy”, del 15 de agosto de 1962), accesorios y trajes originales de algunas de las películas de Spider-Man, instalaciones interactivas de vanguardia y la posibilidad de tomarse fotos con estatuas de tamaño natural.

Además de Spider-Man, hay estatuas a tamaño real del Hombre Araña encarnado por Miles Morales, Ghost-Spider y el Doctor Octopus, y por supuesto, Peter Parker.

La muestra está dividida en dos salas (exhibición 1 y 2, con tiempo para tomarse un café entre una y otra, en el enorme patio de comidas del museo). En ambas exhibiciones el visitante avanza por todas las etapas del personaje, desde su aparición en 1962 hasta llegar a la actualidad.

Es una recorrida que permite profundizar en las diferentes etapas del personaje, su evolución y los cambios impulsados por la imaginación de los grandes dibujantes que pasaron por las mesas de Marvel Comics. Se exponen además originales de artistas como Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Bill Everett y John Romita, entre otros. Permite además analizar los cambios culturales que vivió Estados Unidos desde los años 60, desde las vestimentas hasta la manera de hablar.

Al finalizar la recorrida, un amplio salón permite a los más pequeños sentarse a dibujar, antes de avanzar hasta el infaltable local de merchandising, donde es casi inevitable llevarse algún recuerdo a casa con la estampa del personaje con el que todos soñamos ser alguna vez.

Todo comenzó con una araña radioactiva

Spider-Man surgió de la imaginación de Stan Lee y Jack Kirby a comienzos de los años 60 del siglo pasado. Ambos apostaron, por primera vez, a que el superhéroe fuera un adolescente, con todos sus problemas y avatares, desde el vínculo con sus compañeros en la escuela y hasta las dificultades para encontrar trabajo.

“Todos conocían a Superman, así que era hora de para un competidor, y llamarlo Spider-Man sería hilarante”, dijo Stan Lee en 1974. El tiempo y el éxito le dieron la razón a quien fuera director de Marvel Comics durante años.

The Amazing Spider-Man exhibit in Chicago

Spider-Man, one of the most popular superheroes and one of the cultural icons of the United States who has found his way into almost every home in the world (after all, who doesn’t know Spider-Man?), is the subject of a surprising exhibition in Chicago, at the Griffin Museum of Science+Industry.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing – The Exhibition” is the name of the immersive exhibition being presented by the Griffin Museum of Science+Industry, one of the most captivating museums in the United States, with interactive exhibits dedicated to history (for example, the origin of the bicycle and the automobile), as well as the environment and science in general.

The Spider-Man exhibit, which will be open until February 26, 2026, is causing a stir and has become one of the most visited in the United States. Many fans even visit dressed as Spider-Man.

Comics, Infographics, Costumes, and Statues

It all started with a radioactive spider

Spider-Man emerged from the imagination of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the early 1960s. For the first time, they envisioned the superhero as a teenager, with all his problems and ups and downs, from his bond with his classmates at school to the difficulties of finding a job.

“Everyone knew Superman, so it was time for a competitor, and calling him Spider-Man would be hilarious,” said Stan Lee in 1974. Time and success proved the longtime director of Marvel Comics right.
